What you'll find on this page
How to submit a reimbursement claim, add proof of payment for larger claims, and check on a claim's status after submitting.
This guide is for participants, carers, and Support Coordinators managing reimbursement claims on the web platform.
What you need before you start
- You're logged into kismet.healthcare. (Using the Kismet app on mobile instead? Go to this article)
- A file of your receipt (photo, PDF, or image)
- The name of the provider you bought from
- The date you made the purchase
- If your claim is $250 or more: proof that you've already paid (more on this in Step 4)
How to submit a reimbursement
Step 1 — Start a new claim
- Go to kismet.healthcare and log in.
- Click Reimbursements in the top navigation. You will see a list of your past claims. Each claim shows the provider, amount, and status.
- Click New Claim in the top right corner
Step 2 — Upload your receipt
- Select the upload area, or drag your receipt file onto it.
- Select Submit to upload the receipt.
Step 3 — Wait a minute or two!
Kismet reads your receipt and automatically fills in the items, provider, and date, showing a progress message while this runs. Once it's done, it will show up as "Draft" in the Reimbursements tab.
Step 4 — Fill in the details
Before you move on, make sure these are correct:
- Items — what you bought and how much each cost
- Provider — who you bought from
- Purchase date — when you made the purchase
You can add or remove items before submitting.
You can add or remove items before you submit.
Step 5 — Add proof of payment (for claims of $250 or more)
If your claim is $250 or more, you'll need to show that you've already paid. Kismet will let you know if this applies to you. You can do this in one of three ways:
- Upload a file — such as a bank statement or payment confirmation email
- Tick the checkbox — to confirm the receipt shows proof of payment
- No action needed — some receipts already show payment was made; if Kismet detects this, it skips this step for you
If this requirement isn't met, a message tells you what to do — the Submit button will prompt you if anything required is missing.
Step 6 — Agree to the declaration
-
Before you can submit, you will need to tick a box to confirm that:
- You paid for this yourself
- It fits within your NDIS plan
- The details you have entered are correct
- You know the claim may be checked
- Tick the box, then click Submit.
Step 7 — You're done
Your claim is sent to the Kismet team. You'll see it in your Reimbursements tab with a Received status while the team reviews it.
What happens after you submit?
The Kismet team will look at your claim. If they need you to make changes, you will get a notification. The claim will show a Changes requested status in your Expenses tab.
Click the claim to see what needs to change. Make your updates, then submit again.
Once your claim is approved, the status will change to Approved.
Not ready to submit yet?
Your claim will be saved as a draft. You can find it in your Expenses tab and finish it later.
Submitting for someone else
If you are a support coordinator or carer, you can submit on behalf of a participant. Select the participant's plan from the dropdown at the top of the screen and follow the same steps above.
Need help?
Talk to your support coordinator or reach out to the Kismet team if you have questions about what you can claim.
