Is this funded by the NDIS?
Yes, the NDIS funds assistance animals when they are deemed reasonable and necessary supports under a participant’s plan.
This is referenced in the Supports that are NDIS Supports PDF (p.4) where it outlines funding for assessment, matching, provision, dietary needs, grooming, veterinary services, and accreditation reviews for eligible assistance animals.
Assistance animals are funded because they directly support functional capacity, safety, and independence for participants.

If you already have funding for assistance animals included in your NDIS plan, no further action is needed. If you do not have this included, you will need to apply to your My NDIS Contact to have assistance animal supports added to your plan
